Building DEI in Environmental Organizations

Online

Major social and political events in recent years have sparked discourse in both the public and private sectors about the need for greater diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace. The environmental industry is no different. An analysis of those employed as environmental scientists in the U.S. shows that the vast majority are white (86.8%) and male (61.7%), indicating an opportunity to advance efforts for diversity and equity to help create a more inclusive and productive industry.

In this course designed for leaders, HR managers and other professionals working within environmental and related industries, you’ll learn how to build authentic, sustainable and equitable DEI solutions in the workplace. Through lectures, course readings and live online discussions, you’ll explore how to build an effective equity and DEI plan; assess DEI outcomes for your organization; develop and lead successful DEI committees; and create a compelling narrative to promote the importance of DEI efforts and results to investors, leaders and other stakeholders within your organization. By the end of this course, you will possess the understanding and tools to develop strong DEI structures that will lead to positive growth and systemic change within your environmental organization.
