Animal Rescue in Disaster Planning

As California continues to experience more wildfires and flooding, our communities are forced to adapt how they plan for and respond to natural disasters to ensure the safety of our residents, pets and livestock.

This hands-on course will focus on the theory and practice of crisis management as it pertains to large and small animals. Topics will include:

  • The relationship between the volunteer animal community, first responders and local government
  • Organizations and facilities in the area of large and small animal – production, safeguarding, treatment, and/or support
  • Crisis management principles related to small animal and livestock safety, and lessons learned from recent wildfires and flooding disasters
