Digital Literacy Demystified (Grades 6-12)

Digital literacy is embedded throughout the CCSS ELA standards, and technology is a key component of our instructional practice, regardless of content area. We are all learning how to incorporate digital tools in our classrooms as a meaningful way to help secondary students become digitally literate.

  • Use Google Apps that will get students to write collaboratively as well as create presentations, websites and blogs. This includes the complete Google classroom suite for responding to student writing and keeping track of student work.
  • Explore a wide variety of digital media production tools and ideas for iPads, iOS devices, Chromebooks and desktop computers.
  • Examples of digital media tools: iMovie, Padlet, Animoto, Nearpod, and many others.
  • Learn how to implement strategies in your classroom that will engage and inspire you and your students.
