Forestry Institute for Teachers

The Forestry Institute for Teachers (FIT) was founded in 1993. FIT is a one-week course that is designed to provide K-12 teachers with increased content knowledge, skills and tools to effectively teach their students about forest ecology and forest resource management practices, including timber harvesting, prescribed burning and biomass harvesting. The forest environment is the basis for integrating the teaching and learning of many subject areas, including environmental science, physical science, social science, history, biology and forestry.
