Settings such as gardens or nature preserves provide children with exposure to scientific phenomena and stimulating experiences, and serve as a platform for multidisciplinary inquiries. Preschool or elementary teachers taking this course will learn both the theory and practice behind NGSS science education, VAPA art education, integrated thematic teaching, multicultural studies, project based learning, multiple intelligence, and Reggio Emilia inspired research, by participating actively in outdoor explorations. Both virtual and outdoor workshop versions of this course can be offered, depending on the need and the location of participants.
