Pre-Health Application Writing

This course is designed for people applying to medical or dental school this summer. We will learn to strategically tie your narrative and attributes to each school through the secondary application questions. Through lecture, discussion, analysis of school websites, and assignments, students will craft and receive feedback on their secondary application question responses. The course should generate the content for the majority of the common questions, such as writing an autobiography, answering "why us?", and developing a strong diversity statement. Students will be encouraged to share questions, their writing, and feedback with one another.

Each 90-minute session will include 60 minutes of direct instruction/discussion led by the instructor, followed by 30 minutes of individual writing time when the instructor is available to visit individual rooms to answer questions. Peer and instructor feedback will be used to develop student writing.

Each student will also meet individually with the instructor for one 60-minute feedback session.
