Special Topics in Accelerator Physics

Quarter Academic Credit
4

This course focuses on the fundamental principles of accelerator physics and technology. Students select one of three content concentrations. Topics (depending on concentration chosen) may include accelerator magnets, instrumentation and beam measurements, single particle transverse and longitudinal motion, Liouville's theorem, emittances, effects of linear magnet errors, chromatic effects, nonlinearities, RF systems, synchrotron radiation, collective effects, basic beam diagnostics, and a comprehensive introduction to ion RF linear accelerators.
