UC Partnership Expands Training Options for Working Professionals

UC Davis and UC Irvine Divisions of Continuing and Professional Education Collaborate to Reach New Audiences for Online Programs

UC Davis and UC Irvine are partnering to provide working professionals throughout the state with access to career training options of which they might otherwise be unaware. As part of this initial cross-promotional collaboration, which was developed by the Divisions of Continuing and Professional Education, each school shares information about select online educational programs on the other partner’s website, increasing exposure and driving enrollments.

“Making our programs more accessible will allow our universities to achieve greater alignment with the demands of our region, our state and the communities we serve.”

Through the Program Sharing Network (PSN), each university will be co-marketing six online programs. UC Davis will be sharing the Online Beer Quality Series, Autism Spectrum Disorder Professional Concentration and Construction Management Certificate Program to UCI students.

“This sort of cross-UC collaboration just makes sense,” said Susan Catron, dean of UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education. “It positions each school to quickly fill gaps in their program portfolios, and keep pace with the emerging, high-demand skills needed in their regions. We hope to expand these partnerships to other campuses in the system.”

“Now, more than ever, it’s critical for UC schools to collaborate and find innovative new ways to work together,” said Gary Matkin, UCI dean of Continuing Education and vice provost of Career Pathways. “Making our programs more accessible through PSN will allow our universities to achieve greater alignment with the demands of our region, our state and the communities we serve.”

After this initial phase, new programs will be identified and added to the mix. Additional collaborative opportunities, including jointly developed content, are also being explored.
