Introduction to Python Programming for GIS
This hands-on GIS workshop will introduce students to the fundamental programming and GIS principles commonly used in the GIS industry. Students will learn how to automate geoprocessing tasks such as querying data, creating and saving data, connecting data, as well as learning how to automate map production tasks. By the end of the course, students will be able create, modify and troubleshoot Python code.

his is an online, remote learning course, which consists of 20 hours of content and curriculum that is taught with pre-recorded lectures as well all mandatory live Zoom session with the instructor(s). Pre-recorded lectures and live sessions are accessed via our Canvas learning system and Zoom. This course is the same length as a standard 3 day, in-person course, please be sure to plan your schedule accordingly.
This course is open June 3 – June 7, 2024, with live sessions on June 4 and June 6, 2:00-4:00 PM PST.
Attendance of the live sessions is mandatory to receive credit for this course.
We allow registration through the 12:00 PM PST (noon) on the first day of the course. We cannot extend course access beyond 11:59 PM on last day of class, so students pursuing a late enrollment acknowledge that they will have less time to complete the materials. Please contact the course representative with any questions.

Prerequisites
It is strongly recommended that students have prior training in ESRI (ArcGIS) or similar software. Completion of Introduction to Geographic Information Systems is sufficient for success in this course. No programming experience is necessary.
